Hey, the movie just went to the dollar theater in my area (Canton Ohio) and I was wondering if any of you guys live anywhere near here, if we could set up a movie showing. I would love to go to one of the late ones, and fill the theater with fans so that we could dress up, be as loud as we want, and sing the songs and whatever. Even if there's just a few of you, it would still be a lot of fun! Comment or send me a note if you're interested, and if there's enough of you guys near a different theater (within a reasonable distance) I might even be willing to drive somewhere to see it. Comment on here, or message me if this is possible!

Also, here's ten random things I noticed about the movie today:

1) The cat in the hat is on the orange drink bottle in Ted's dining room
2)The Once-ler's bed has no sheets. He is sleeping on a bare mattress :'(
3) "Sundress Girl" as I like to call her (I drew her on pages 1 & 2 of A Long Time Ago) is in almost every scene where there's a crowd. (regardless of what time in the story it is) and sometimes multiple incarnations are visible in different colors
4) There is a minion from "Despicable Me" in Ted's drawer
5) A band called the "Funky Fumes" is advertised throughout the movie, including in Ted's room
6) The once-ler likes cowboys (Lol, I'm just guessing; his bowl has cacti and cowboy hats on it)
7) His mom is the secretary.
8) Right after they pelt him with tomatoes, he says "Oooh, that one hit a tender spot!"
9) I only saw one other redhead in Thneedville, and that's the doctor at the end. Is she Audrey's mom? O.o
10) It is totally insinuated that O'Hare's design team is gay. They are sharing one drink with two cute little curly straws before they get knocked into by the air truck.
  • Mood: Hope
  • Listening to: Biggering
  • Reading: the Witching Hour
  • Watching: it for about the eigth time.
  • Playing: Mario Party 2

I live about three hours away! I would so love to go, but I don't think my mom would let me drive that far just for a movie. :(

I don't live too far from you in PA, but a two hour drive is still a bit long to go see a movie... Found this journal interesting because I was just debating if it would be too dorky of me to wear my Once-ler costume to see it at the dollar theater near me! It definitely would be more fun to see it with other fans.

Definitely not dorky. :) I totally bought an employee's lorax shirt off of him the other day when I went. I didn't regret it in the slightest

I've gone to quite a few movies dressed up, but always in a group of other cosplayers. Unfortunately, none of my other friends have much interest in the movie.

It's cool that you got a shirt! Wish there was more actual merchandise...

She told you that? Aw, I'm sorry. :( Tell her that I get "obsessed" with things all the time, and I'm a normal, functioning adult. I'm so obsessed that I've drawn thirty pages of a comic about them.

Aww I wish I could (I do live in Ohio) but I'm afraid that's still a bit of a drive for me. (I live about an hour away from Columbus)

Hm. That's a bummer. It seems I live a little bit in the boonies. There are a surprising number of people in Ohio though!

Oh, I would love to, but I can't drive yet ^^; also, when Ted is walking past the Unless rock somewhere in the beginning of the movie, his shoes say "Gru's Shoes" with a picture of a minion. :D

I have some more things that I've learned from the movie :)

11) The Lorax is left-handed
12)The names of Once-Ler's Uncle Ubb, and Ted's last name, Wiggums, are references from The Dr. Seuss A, B,C book
13) To tell Brett and Chett apart is from their clothes. Brett wears his sleeves up, and Chett wears his down

As a bonus, The Lorax (book-version) is referred in other Seuss-related books and media:

1) In "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut," The Once-Ler's house/factory appears in the background of one of the towns Cat in the Hat and Cat Jr. pass by

2) A bar-ba-Loot appears in the online-reading game of "Green Eggs and Ham"

And I'm just spit-ballin' here, but I gave each of the bar-ba-loots, humming fish, and swamee swans (minus Pipsqueak and Bill of course) names.

I wonder if there's a theater like halfway. I can't believe that there's people on my watch list so close! (It's sad that four hours away is close)

Yeah, I'm used to people being in England or California. I guess we are relatively close in comparison. Hmm, I'll look into it tonight. Don't think it'll be too hard to find info.

yeah, I looked it up on google maps, and driving four hours to see a movie, even with die hard fans, is a little too much for me right now ^^;
but if you find anybody in Cincinnati, let me know :D

If there's a theater somewhere in the middle, would you be up for it? I mean, so far I only have heard of one person who lives within driving distance, so I dunno about that. But if there was a little bit bigger group... I just love the idea of basically owning the theater :D

me too me too, especially if no one minds riffing (it's basically like making fun of the movie, but we love to riff what we love, we riff with love :D )

maybe somewhere in the middle... my mom would kill me if she knew I was driving about two miles out of town to see a movie with some fangirls (and I'd probably kill myself too) so it's still a big maybe to go halfway :XD:

Hi Ro! ^_^ Don't worry about it, I'm the same way. I'm watching a ton of people, so sometimes I'm like.. "wtf, who is this?" before I realize. It doesn't help that I don't have my real name associated with my account

how far is Canton from Cincinnati? I'd love to go, but I don't know if peeps would want me there: I'd just riff the movie, I already got some good ones planned :D
(I'd probably also yell at the screen whenever O'Hare or Onceler's Mom is up, I hate them!!)

hmm, at your dollar? I should check my dollar!

I wish I could dress up, at the last second all I can scrounge up is the Onceler's hat (the Onceler dresses like my grandpa, weird...)

as for hidden easter egg number 8? :lmao:

I haven't heard a solid date either, which worries me. I'm just gonna pre-order it on Amazon so that I'm guaranteed to get it as soon as it comes out. I hope that it's soon- I know that A Long Time Ago would look so much better if I had a hi-def reference in front of me. :(
